Yes, it can be used without the the bins. It’s very sturdy & the bins CAN be used separately. The only problem would be if you wanted it flat cuz the center cylinder is permanently mounted.

Q: i really like the concept of this and it looks nice. I have not purchased yet, but any indication that the turn tables itself are anti slip/ skid?

There is no anti skid material. That being said I tried to slide it and it isn't a slippery surface. With what is loaded on it it doesn't move easy at all.
