This is great in a bedtime tea mixture. Frontier products are always fresh and tasty.

The only negative with this is the bag it comes in is much larger than needed and it's not resealable. I knew that before purchasing though.The herb itself is incredible. I know a lot of people dislike the smell and taste, and I did too at first, but now the smell and taste signals my brain it's time to start winding down. It doesn't put me to sleep in the way a sleeping pill would knock me out, but it calms me and triggers my wind down process. In that way, it does get me to sleep. I was taking 500mg a night as a supplement but now I'm trying this as tea and I have a sachet of it next to my bed for the aroma.

Very strong smell, most other reviews I saw seemed to hate the smell but I love it! Very earthy! I mix it with chamomile flowers and it smells like sunscreen to me 🤷 has a very strong relaxing effect and helps me sleep. Sometimes gives me very vivid dreams! Would 10/10 recommend! Will definitely repurchase when I run out, which will take awhile because it's a large bag! Couldn't be happier!

I take prescription meds for anxiety as needed, but this is fantastic for those times when it's not a full panic attack but I know I shouldn't be constantly feeling like I've forgotten to do everything and it all should have been done a month ago.It does not work like xanax for me - instead it seems to force my brain to stop bouncing around and looking for things that may go wrong.It also doesn't put me to sleep at all - it kept me up because I wasn't stressing about sleeping right that second or worrying about lack of sleep for the next day.I will say, I felt like I started to forget words I should be able to recall easily for a week or so after drinking this a few times the week before, but that may have truly just been too much stress/anxiety.It is supposed to stay in your system for 4-6 hours (if I remember correctly), but for me it tends to let me calm enough that I stay calmer than normal even the next day.I like the taste - it's kind of like the smell of wet dirt (the good wet dirt though).I pour hot (almost boiling) water over 1 tablespoon (in a tea bag I purchased separately) and let it brew for 10 minutes. I then remove the tea bag (it gets bitter if you leave it) and enjoy.

it's not like other root I got but work well IF you double up. I use 2 tablespoons in a saucepan of water and boil a good bit, then turn off and let it cool off and strain.

I am an avid tea drinker, I was taking doxylamine over the counter sleep aids for years until I decided to start herbal teas. I have now developed the perfect homemade blend of which one of the ingredients is valerian root. I have been drinking this tea for ~ 3 years now and I have no more need for sleep aids (well except for the tea); I have probably purchased ~ 5-6lb. total of valerian over the last 3 years from different shops and brands on etsy and amazon.... This past year i transitioned to growing most of my herbs as it gets expensive and I was shocked at how amazing homegrown valerian root smells when it is freshly dried. The smell was much nicer and the color was lighter. Kinda made me wonder how old and how clean was the valerian root that I have purchased online!! The bad thing is I didn't grow enough to get me through til next season. I received the Valerian Root today and I WAS SHOCKED AT HOW GOOD IT SMELLED AND THE COLOR LOOKED LIKE MY HOMEGROWN VALERIAN! Makes me think its the freshest I have purchased online so far and after growing it my self and realizing how timely t is to clean the roots well before drying, looking at the roots they sent, I can tell they did a hell of a better job than any of the other shops.... nothing beats homegrown and washed but this right here is probably the closest I am going to get! you have gained a loyal customer.

1/2 to 1 tsp with no caffeine tea 1 hour before bed works for me.

Experience: Product arrived sealed and fresh. Brewed a teaspoon in a mesh tea strainer for a lot longer than a regular tea bag, which I expected from other reviews. Kept my brew on my bedside table and drank half before bed--- Dozed off in no time. If I woke up in the middle of the night, I drank some more, dozed off again. I've been drinking this at bedtime for almost a month and it still works. No symptoms of drowsiness of grogginess in the morning either.Am very satisfied with this product!! I'm going to take some with me for an overseas flight-- I have difficulty sleeping on planes so I want to see if this'll help. To be continued...As for the smell that people are writing about-- It has a unique earthy smell but I didn't find it overpowering or have to cover my nose or anything. It's not like anything I smelled before, but I quickly got used to it. Some reviewers compared it to feet-- if you've been to a jiu-jitsu gym or ice skating rink, I think you'll find that this is NOT that (not even close!). Now, if you're sensitive to smell, that might be another thing. But it's fine with me and my family's not bothered by it.I poured the pound into a tin with a tight lid to keep it fresh. I would recommend this product to a friend.
