Thanks for your question. Era 300 produces a good stereo image as a single speaker. Two Era 100 will provide a wider stereo image. The choice is determined by room size, music type, budget, and personal preference. World Wide Stereo – since 1979 – and a proud authorized Sonos dealer.

Q: Where is the best placement for the speaker?

You want this in a more open space, not within, say, bookshelves, or right up against a wall. The top and side speakers need to be able to reflect off of walls and ceiling. I have mind on speaker stands with lots of space around them.

Q: Is there a significant difference between listening to music on a single speaker versus a pair of studio speakers?

Yes! Absolutely! When you get two you pair them as stereo and the front speakers take on more of the work. A single is sound coming more equally from the front, side and top. A single speaker you can "tune" via the app for the space and adjust the "height" of the sound. I have two set up as stereo with their mini subwoofer in one room, and then a separate single one in another room. I am totally thrilled with my setup. If you mean compared with regular studio speakers there is of course going to be a big difference as the Sonos are able to reproduce songs recorded with Dolby Atmos. A lot of the sound is projected up and to the sides to reflect off of walls, unlike regular stereo speakers.
