Excellent product - will keep you mobile and save your battery
Expensive but does the job very well. A very compact unit with fixing holes for you to screw it to a wall, base board, whateverNot using my MG TF very often since it is rare, the battery on it kept failing after a few weeks.Using a conventional charger on 'trickle charge' will eventually damage the battery. BUT this car charger is not your normal battery charger. It charges the battery quickly but then, rather than just 'trickle charging', it then switches off, waits for a time, then checks the battery voltage and only charges it if necessary, 'ad infinitum'. So no battery damage. It does other things as well such as reconditioning which gives your battery a good maintenance cycle - should increase the lifetime -and includes a 12v power supply setting too.On top of all this there is a host of accesory connectors available for it. You can either use clips on the battery itself, the cigarette lighter socket (and this has LED indicators showing the battery state) and fittings for you to attach to the car to plug the unit in. All connector fittings are robust and easy to use. Can thoroughly recommend it

Earned the cost back within the first couple of days.
I bought this mainly for keeping a 400 quid's worth AGM cell in tip top condition as it wasn't being used much in a car audio system in a car off the road and slowly draining. To that end it has an AGM mode that charges at a slightly higher voltage, appropriate for the power cell - unlike my ancient 80s charger. My AGM now sits at a very healthy 13.5V~ and I can rest assured that even if I want to use it to jump one of my cars, or when it eventually gets used in an audio system again it will be ready to go.Now, on to the main point. I have several old batteries laying around, and 3 cars not currently road legal and have been sitting anywhere from 1 year to 6 years. The first subject, a 1 year unused car, with a battery measured at 3.34V that was left connected the entire time. The CTEK in recondition mode brought it back to what I can only presume is fully healthy - I tested it on a 100 amp crank tester for 15-20 seconds and the voltage barely dropped from 12.7 -> 12.6. A successful recondition. Worth mentioning is that before I had the charger I tried to run the car and let it use the alternator - the battery after 10 minutes or so was spitting out liquid at the sides - it was clearly trying to get too much power at once; that's why chargers like the CTEK are current limited, with careful control over what happens. The second subject, a 3 year unused car, with a battery measuring 8.68V, that had been disconnected at some point over the years. The CTEK in recondition mode brought it back to a stable 12.6V and the cranking test also showed an insignificant drop. Another success. The third subject, a 6 year old battery left connected in the car measuring 1.82V. The CTEK did not bring this one back. It's worth noting that in both the above cases the CTEK went into 'ERROR' mode - but after a reset continued to recondition. With this battery it would constantly go into ERROR mode after about 10 minutes. I put the CTEK in to power supply mode and just left it on the battery for about 2 hours to try and force some energy into it to give it a kick start, but when measuring it after removing the leads the voltage plummeted from about 3.3V down to less than 2V very quickly - definitely no saving that battery. All in all an excellent charger I wish I had bought years ago, it would have saved even more than it has already.

Used every month to charge 'Leisure Battery' never a problem
Been using this item for years now and can report that I've never had an issue with its performance. Keeps a leisure battery topped up in the catering trailer and can condition and recharge as a part of the many features this device has. I bought an extension lead to the output to take the 12V through a loom in the vehicle so that it can be permanently connected to the vehicle.

Great charger, ideal for what I needed but not perfect.
I've been in the market for a decent battery charger for my diesel Ford Mondeo with start/stop technology due to it being stood for longer than normal periods of time while I'm not doing the miles in it during the pandemic situation. The car has been suffering with low battery and electrical gremlins from standing and not doing the usual long journeys so I wanted to be able to give it a charge and stop the battery from degrading. Finally I decided on the MXS 7.0 which is at a very reasonable price point and has all of the must have features on my check list so I ordered it and was not disappointed with the charger itself, the build quality, the performance and the compact design (compared to older style battery charger I still have in the garage). The charger worked flawlessly and I do trust that the manufacturer know what they're doing when it comes to the initial test and desulphation stage which gives me piece of mind that my battery is at a good starting point for the charge it was about to receive. The stages progressed as they should and the battery was charged to 80% quicker than I expected as I had driven the car the day before I carried out the charging process so it wasn't having to charge from a dead state.Because this is a review and nobody would ever believe it was an honest review without some nit picking I will say the only think I believe could have been better designed is the cable which attaches to the battery, specifically the plug which you connect the charger cable to. There is no cap or protective cover on the plug on the cable which comes from the car battery. Now on the cable with the crocodile clips I don't think it matters so much but on the cable with the ring terminals which is intended to be screwed in place on the battery I feel that some kind of protective cap should have been included if the cable is to be left in the engine bay of the car while driving around with the cable attached.I have included 2 pictures to show what I mean, one is the connection plug for the CTEK MXS 7.0 without any cover and the other is of a connection plug for an Oxford Oximiser which is fitted to my motorcycle and has got a nice water tight cap attached to the plug to protect the connectors from the elements and from any potential short circuit as obviously you've got a positive and negative straight from your battery in that small plug. I would not be comfortable having the cable for the MXS 7.0 permanently screwed to the positive terminal of my battery and then left loose and exposed in the engine bay while driving so I will not use that cable, rather just attach the crocodile clips whenever I need to connect the charger to the car battery which removes a degree of ease and convenience.Other than this one small niggle no complaints and very happy with my purchase.
