Grin BY Grin Bread Bags, My One Year Review
Spoiler alert I love these bags!I do a fair amount of home sourdough bread baking. It's just my wife and I as a rule so I normally bake two loaves every seven to ten days, but truthfully it just depends on how quickly we eat the bread. Sometimes, two loaves will last a couple of weeks. Anyway, I always bake two loaves at a time since it's a couple of days process. One is usually unbleached white flour or whole wheat, and the second loaf is usually a seeded Rye. To keep them fresh, for years I reused plastic Dave’s bread bags, but honestly my loaves are big enough to make that a challenge. The bags were barely large enough. So I began looking for something better. At first I tried muslin bags, which while they are great for transporting bread, they are useless for keeping it fresh. The muslin being extremely porous, the bread dries out and gets stale very quickly.Luckily I found the Grin By Grin bags. They come as a pair which is perfect for my needs. Also, being different colors ivory and blue I can easily distinguish one loaf from the other. I have used these bags continuously for about 13 months and they are great!Pros:They are very well made and sturdy. I haven’t had a single issue in that regard. Complaints I’ve read about weak seams or zippers are definitely not true for me.They breath, but are not extremely porous, so they keep my bread fresh without it getting stale or drying out. They are large. In a couple of my pictures you can see that I easily fit two loaves onto a single bag. I don’t do that, but I wanted to show it’s possible. The zipper is really not necessary as it’s really the rolling and buckling the end of the bag that seals it. I say that because a few of the complaints I read regarded the zipper failing. They claim to be machine washable, but I have not found it necessary and I don’t think I’d risk it. It’s so easy to shake out the crumbs and I’ve even turned them inside out at least once and wet wiped them.I’ve not had my bread mold in them and I’ve kept bread in them for up to two weeks. That said, I don’t even bag my bread until it’s 24 hours old and I refrigerate my bread after I bag it. Occasionally, if I know it will be a while before we consume it, I will freeze it. These bags are great for either. I have seen a few complaints of moisture build up in the bags and mold occurring. I have experienced neither. I believe my success is because I never bag my bread until the day after it’s been baked and after that, I store it in the refrigerator.Cons:None!

Perfect bread bag
Pretty, easy to use, quality materials. These bags have helped me keep my homemade bread fresher longer than any other bag I've found. The built in handle makes ease of closure and portability top tier. Machine washable and made of recycled materials.

It’s plastic not fabric
It’s really plasticy. I thought it’d be more fabric from the description.

Great for freezing bread
Freezing bread is the way to go. Pull two pieces out and pop them into the toaster. Instant sandwich meal!Bag works easily and provides protection from freezer burn.

Beautiful!!
These bags are PERFECT for boules! I had a hard time fitting them in a ziplock and found myself having to cut up the bread to make it fit. Then it would dry out and just looked and tasted sad and dry! These bags are so easy to clean and keep my bread fresh! The lining reminds me of our old cloth diaper bags from years ago :)

Good for freezing
I think these are great for storing loaves when freezing. I made homemade sourdough and after 4 days it turned moldy in these bags leaving it at room temperature. I’m not super thrilled as a loaf of sourdough takes a lot of work!

Bread stays fresh much longer!
I like many other people, have recently gotten into sourdough baking. However, being single means I’ve got a lot of leftover bread. I didn’t really expect much out of these bags because everyone knows thathomemade bread goes stale very fast. However, I’m extremely impressed, I have a loaf in it now that I’ve been eating off of for four days and it is still moist and fresh. Highly recommend.
