Built To Last

I've had this camera for nearly three years now. The picture quality is good and this thing is tough as nails.I set it, unsecured, on a broken light fixture outside my back door. It has been knocked down by birds on several occasions, landing on the concrete slab below. It cracked once, then cracked even further, but it kept working. A few days ago, when I went to pick it up off the ground, I accidentally dropped it in a bucket of water, where it was fully submerged for a second or two. I grabbed it, turned it off, and set it on some paper towels for a few days. Yesterday I plugged it in for a few hours, then turned it on, not expecting much. To my surprise, it worked perfectly. The battery lasts me, if I had to guess, well over a month before it needs to be plugged in for a few hours. It was a little challenging to get it setup initially, but once it's setup, it's very easy to use. I LOVE the fact that there is a PC app. I have it installed on my work computer and it's great to be able to look at the live view or review any motion alerts from the previous day/night. I recently bought a camera from a different brand, and you can only view it on your phone, or download a clip and transfer it by email attachment or via USB to a PC.The motion detection is just okay. It doesn't have a super long range. That being said, it does detect deer that are quite a ways from the house and it picks up a lot of critters near the house, such as cats, possums, raccoons, foxes, rabbits and squirrels.I'd say it's a good value for the money.

Better than others

So I have cheaper Camaras currently and they just miss some motion due to the delay in turning on so it's gotten pointless. I tried the tapo Camara by tp link (C425) but it wouldn't stay connected to the Internet. I spent hours trying to get it to work and then returned them. The reolink Argus 3 Pro was just as easy if not easier to setup and is always connected. I've had it for over 24 hours and have put it through some testing. You will need an SD card to see time stamps and footage without paying for a plan. I like that I don't have to pay for this feature. The timers still turn the Camara on when there is motion, but it won't alert you. The Camara not only picks up motion, but sound which I really like. It hasn't disconnected once on me. The alert is delayed a few seconds, but the recording is not. It starts recording before I get the alert. Battery seems fine. I put it through quite the day with testing and messing with settings and drained the battery maybe 12%, but that was with a whole day of checking on it and messing with it. The app isn't as good as tp links, but gets the job done. I think there is room for improvement in this area, but it's not bad at all. Overall, it's better than my zumimall cameras and better than the tapo ones. I just ordered two more because this thing is sweet! Hopefully I don't have to charge it every week or I may buy the solar panel for the outside ones.Edit: I'm adding screenshot of the battery life for all 3 Camara's. One is in my sons room, one at the front door, and one in my back yard. This will alow you to see how many minutes it spent on and recording and where the life is now. I have all the Camara's on the high resolution setting. I am placing my sons Camara on the charger now that it's below 20%. Front door and backyard are fine, even through the heavy use during the break my kids had.

Items not talked about

Great security camera. I have 4 of them. You have to read if the mini SD cards are included or not. That will also determine what price you pay. Ones with the SD cards cost more. Also on this model you can't replace the batteries. Keep that in mind. Additionally if they go bad during the warranty period reolink will replace it.

Poor Battery charge life

This is my third Reolink camera, 2 in 2021 and one in 2022. I returned the previous two. This one is a Pro 3 and I like it better.I have also bought, and returned, a nest camera, a blink, a ring, an Arlo because they were lousy.Reolink Pro 3 Positive pointsImage quality is very goodEasy to install and add to your wifiSupport is decent considering they are somewhere in China or Hong Kong. It will take a day or two to respond.Reolink Pro 3 Negative pointsThe battery charge last less than a week and stops working at about 15% charge. You can set the sensitivity to a lower setting but you will miss over 75% of the action. This defeats the purpose of the camera. I have it set it to minimum and still have to charge it weekly. Leave on a week’s vacation and you will miss lots of recordings. By the way, none of the other cameras’ batteries last that long either, even the ones that claim to do so!Bottom line is that none of the battery operated cameras function the way the manufacturer tells you, or the way the reviewers tell you. Are they lying? Maybe exaggerating! they review these units with optimal set ups. In other words, their routers, their wifi, is a one to one set up for review. They can control the distance to the camera and every other aspect. We, the normal users, do not have similar capabilities. We can’t control the distance between the router and the camera, we can not control the bandwidth, and we have a dozen other pieces of equipment sucking up bandwidth from yours router, e.g. iPhones, iPads, tvs, games, etc. etc.Keeping that in mind, is it worth it to have a battery operated security camera? Only you can answer that. Is something better than nothing? You decide, but be aware that the unit will not likely operate exactly, or even close, to the way you expect!

Price, Delivery, Quality.... what more can you ask.

You need to get this camera! The battery version is simple to set up and can be used anywhere, inside or out. No wires, clear, sharp pictures... I have two and am thinking about getting more. You can't beat the price or quality for $69.00.
