Q: There seems to be no raised/butting edge to line paper up against with the 1 inch mark. Am I missing something?

When cutting paper...say you want to cut paper at 5 inches, slide the paper under the clear guard and put the other side of paper at 5 inch. Then slide blade down. The divet where the blade sinks into is the start of one inch . If your wanting to score something line your paper up with that divet and score at that first mark. Hope that helps.

Q: How do you change the blade

you just pull apart the ruler that the blade sits in and you can lift the blade out (its the entire blue plastic thing).
