Wow. I've been a smith for over 25 years and have always used much larger polishing motors on my bench. When I first got this little guy spinning all I could think was "where have you been all my life?". It's a Foredom and carries a long and honored pedigree so I shouldn't have been so surprised but I was. Sealed motor, super smooth, super quiet, well built and variable speed. It really is a sweet litlle polisher. The only difficulty I had was finding a decent dust collection hood for it so I made my own. I couldn't be happier with it.

This is a well known industry standard used for jewelry polishing and manufacturing. It is of known high quality, has ball bearings to prevent wobbling oh grinding wheels and is one of the few lathes available with adjustable speed needed when polishing soft or heat sensitive materials.

Good piece of equipment for buffing and polishing. Good quality product.

Love this lathe. Polish handcrafted silver jewlery with it and the fact it is variable speed makes it a breeze.

The media could not be loaded. 4/18 update - something has gone amiss with the power dial/switch and the machine cannot be plugged in without running at low speed even with the power switch all the way off. It's not a big deal to change a rheostat switch but on a machine approaching $300 it gives an insight into the low level of quality to be expected long term with these bench buffers. This buffer is $230 no freight/tax on ebay from Jet Tools as of 4/14/18.Original review:I had an Ikohe bench lathe/polisher that I got from Otto Frei and it was junk - plastic switches that broke, a debris collection hood that was useless and a limited variable speed range. I emailed Otto Frei told them the Ikohe was junk and they basically told me to get lost. I looked again recently and they no longer carry the Okohe bench lathe. Gee, I wonder why?I have a Foredom hand held grinder with flex shaft and it's awesome and I figured I'd get their bench lathe. I didn't want the full kit, it's too expensive, I don't need all the doodads and the Foredom bench lathe alone on Amazon is not currently available so I got it from Jets Tools on ebay. It was $171 when I acquired the machine, no tax, no freight.Minimalist in appearance, powerhouse motor, far more punch than the Okohe, 500-7000 rpm speed range, simple rheostat speed dial, green light comes on when running, suction cup feet and 4 base mounting holes if you want to screw it to your bench. It's a LOT easier to put a small mat under this polisher and clean up after use rather than having all the debris clogging up the hood like the Ikohe. I have a large bench polisher for auto use but for smaller pieces and jewelry, this Foredom BL can't be beat. Excellent quality, parts and accessories readily available and a very small bench footprint. Nice. - until the speed switch quit (see video)
