The Art of Harry Potter: Mini Book of Graphic Design

I'm in a design program and always loved the graphics of the Harry Potter films, so this book seemed like a great purchase. The book has a lot of clear pictures and a few fun facts about the team who created these designs. It's so cute, too - it's about the size of a deck of cards. All in all, I'm very happy with this purchase.

Arrived earlier than expected and in perfect condition although didn’t realise how small it is but found that added to the appeal- cute

I bought this as a gift, keep in mind it would probably be very good for someone who consider themsevles a huge fan of the Harry Potter movies and books. This particular book is VERY SMALL. Handy if its something you just want to take into bed with you and have a flick through the pages but that is about all its good for.

These booklets are tiny, about 2 inches in height. And I suspect that they were originally much bigger before being placed under a smallus-petitus spell, that one would have to reverse in order to read the content comfortably. So in its current state it is not really easy to read the book. It’s almost impossible to turn the pages. And the lettering it small.Having said that, the hard cover book looks good, colourful and seems to be of good quality. It’s filled with small fragments of text and many illustrations of art, graphic design and documents that were used for the movies to create the Harry Potter universe. So there are samples of the Daily Prophet. The Sirius Black posters and Hogwarts educational material.This book was another gift to our wizard- daughter, who collects Potter / Fantastic Beast props and movie memorabilia. She already had a few of these miniature books and hopes to collect the entire series of 4 or five books. Personally I’m not a fan of movie concept art and wonder what it adds. But she was very pleased with it.So not an easy read in a practical sense and these book are almost exclusively of interest to the biggest Potter fans.

I know it says mini, and I know the size is there to see before you buy, but if any book whose reason is to show off the design features and artwork deserves to be 'mini' this is not it. Maybe I should have realised this before buying but you assume that the publishers selling a book about art and graphic design realised that making some of the images so small was compromising them and the reason for the book. Some of the text in the designs is illegible and some of the details in the images are indistinct because the images are so small. A magnifying glass wouldn't help because of the resulting quality of reducing their size. It is a pity my disappointment is also not mini. It's 2 stars because it is a comprehensive collection.

This book is very very small! I should have looked at product dimensions... It should be three time the size to appreciate all the artworks. Anyway the desings are beautiful and interesting.
