Zhiyun Crane 2 Servo Follow Focus Supports Real Time Focus Crane 2 for All DSLR and Mirroless Cameras Canon Nikon Sony Panasonic CMF-01

I have used this for over 8 months now, and it has been nothing short of excellent! I've used it with MFT lenses and EF lenses, and it's worked very smoothly! For lenses that give a hardstop on their focus rings, easy solution is to simply put a rubber band around the motor and the lens to secure their connection, yet allow for the motor to pop off from connection to the lens momentarily to avoid straining it when it hits a hard stop.

I took it out of the case, charged it as instructed and connected it correctly to my Crane 2. The lights come on as specified, but unfortunately the unit just doesn't work. This is my fifth 3-axis gimbal, so I'm very familiar with them -- and after two days of non-stop trying, I can say that this thing is toast.Based on some other reviews I've read I'm starting to believe that in its attempt to stay ahead of the competition, Zhiyun got a bit ahead of itself with this servo follow focus. It just doesn't seem to be a quality product at the moment, unlike Zhiyun's gimbals which are stellar. I tried to contact Zhiyun's customer service, but true to its reputation, it seems pretty non-existent.I had high hopes for this little gadget, even though I found its low price to be somewhat suspect. Now that my suspicions have been confirmed, I have no choice but to return it and start looking elsewhere for a solution. Buy it if you wish, just be aware that its quality and dependability are not on par with the company's gimbals.

The mounting bolt is easily stripped so attaching or detaching it from the gimbal becomes impossible. Replace the mounting bolt with a more robust one before you mount the rod because if/when it strips you won't be able to take it off the gimbal.Otherwise the servo motor works very well, with enough torque to turn most lenses, no perceptible latency from when the dial on the Crane 2 is turned, and it performs it's function silently - all of which is very impressive.There are no instructions on how to implement AB stops (though it seems to be available in the menu of Zhiyun Crane 2 firmware 1.72) nor does there seem to be calibration for the range of the focus rotation to prevent the motor from hitting the focus turn limits. If you continue to turn the motor past the hard stop of the focus range, the motor will push itself away from the gear ring as it continues to turn, disengaging from the teeth. At this point you will have to stop production and reset the motor into the teeth of the gear ring.The 2 micro USB ports that are used to connect to the gimbal and camera are extremely fragile and will not hold up for long on any production, once those are loose or broken all control of the servo and camera from the gimbal will be severed.A stronger bolt less prone to stripping, updated firmware (AB stop & lens calibration implementation) with detailed instructions, and more robust communication ports would earn this product 5 stars.
