use the unifi app people, you don't need unfi cloud.
Easy setup just use the unifi app and select stand alone. if you have mixed B/G and N/AC/AX this is the one you need.newer version might not work well with older devices. The only things you are really missing out on in stand alone mode is mesh and some remote management. not a big deal for private non commercial use. as for powering these yes you can get a poe injector just make sure it support poe+ standard. you can also find used ubiquiti EdgeSwitch's on ebay. alot of them have poe+ on most or all ports. and they be much cheaper than unifi cloud key or a unifi dream machine router. of course you can always add the cloud key or dream machine later.

Scan the box, works like a champ
There's a QR code to scan on the flap of the box when you open it. Took me longer to figure that out than I did actually getting it set up.You do need power over Ethernet - if you don't already have it, make sure you buy a PoE adapter/switch to go along with.Setup was pretty straightforward. You do need an app to set it up, but only for the device doing theil initial setup.I can get pretty good signal strength from 200 feet away with one wall between me and it, acceptable signal in my workshop behind the house with many walls and a breaker box in-between, and the speeds are drastically better than the stock router that our ISP gave us.

Perfect for single story home
I bought 2 of these to get even coverage around my house but when I get nearly 800mbps/800mbps anywhere in the house with just 1 of these in the middle, I just kept the second for a rainy day. They are very powerful and customizable (obviously you need to have a Unifi controller to customize the power and bandwidth). If you live far from an Airport, you can use DFS channels on 5ghz which stops all 5Ghz interference from your neighbors (Who are defintely not on DFS channels). In a 1750 sq ft home, I get good signal strength and coverage all over the home on 5 Ghz. Best WiFi access point for the money

One of the best Access Points out there.
Great unit. Have used a lot of them. Once installed never need to mess with them again.

Works well, but install configuration could be easier and advanced security not supported natively
I struggled with whether this unit should receive 3 or 4 stars. The software the company uses for setup is not as intuitive, nor easy to find as I would like. I had to research where/how to use it and natively it does not support high security as it requires other Ubiquiti equipment and software for that. Once setup and configured it works well. I do not need high bandwidth so it works for my needs. I set it up with same SSID and password as my WIFI home network and can seamlessly use either based on location in the home. Also with my installation, I actually had an ethernet cable with regular electrical box run to my ceiling (new home build) and this unit install options did not support using a regular electrical outlet box. I made it work, but the install bracket does not natively support that install option. So far I'm satisfied and it works well with the PoE switch I bought (Netgear).

Ubiquiti is high quality, high performance equipment
Ubiquiti is excellent equipment! I have installed many of these access points as well as their switches and cameras. This unit arrived in factory packaging and on time. Installation was a breeze (may require some networking knowledge with regards to PoE, etc.). I highly recommend Ubiquiti!

EXCELLENT AP! Best one I have ever had
Hands down this is the best access point that I've ever had. I've used netgear spectrum, all the other companies, and ubiquity is the only one that I will ever use going forward. It's great value for the money, connects well, and the build is good.
