Yes, you can use your own backup key that is found inside your original fob. The replacement shell comes with a blank key, but your original backup key will fit just fine once you remove the blank.

Q: Will this work with my 2016 Lincoln MKX? The fob looks the same, but part of the top broke and it won't stay together. Terrible OEM design.

This is just an empty shell. The thing is that the insides from my ford explorer fit precisely. Lincoln is Ford related, so maybe but I don’t think so.
