Who Is This Man? Bible Study Guide: The Unpredictable Impact of the Inescapable Jesus Paperback – November 4, 2014

If your're looking for a book that is written in such superb craft that the words and the message sing, you can stop looking. Who Is this Man? has been an amazing read for me. It is motivational, yet convicting. As I've read this book, I've been transformed from a self-focused person to one who really, really, wants to know my calling to reach those who are suffering. I'm a follower of Jesus, so that's my job. Right?My faith is being renewed. Thank you John Ortberg and your team of editors, publishers, etc who have created such an amazing book to challenge the church.

Unlike some study guides, this one has relevant questions to the book and its topics. Although our group is still in the middle of the study, we find many of the questions thought-provoking and stimulating discussions. The video and the author's presentation style are also very engaging. Highly recommended for any small group reading Ortberg's book. Note that reading the book is not required for this study. However, as with the video, Ortberg's writing style is interesting and engaging and can only increase the groups overall benefit upon completing all the sessions in this study.

This is the best bible study I have been part of, it is interesting, thought provoking , and is scriptural accurate. I bought the book, DVD and leader study guide for use in two churches. I am very active in United Methodist Women and will share my interest in Rev. Ortberg's books for study. This was my first and not the last book of his I will buy. His message on forgiveness has made a difference in my life, I was truly blessed.

I have been a long time Christian and fan of John Ortberg. Once again he does not disappoint. Who is This Man make the reader really consider the impact Jesus has had on our world -impact in places you may not have considered before. I was especially moved by Ortberg's reflection on the three days of Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday. Christians and non-Christians alike will take something important away from reading this wonderful book.

If you want a study guide to walk a group through the entire book, this guide is only moderately helpful. While there is some direct correspondence to chapters one and two (which you can download free from the publisher's website), that correspondence pretty much ends there. It can be a help in developing lessons, but only moderately so. OBTW, the book on the other hand is stellar.

Dr. Ortberg is a Presbyterian pastor who is very knowledgeable, thoughtful, and humorous. I was one of the retreat leaders and I read the book as well as used the guide and DVD. It was very well received by our group of about 25 (Lutheran) women.

Any church leader would prophet from the perspective that John Ortberg present this viewing of Jesus and his impact on the world we live in today. Great for small groups and other classes in any congregation. Theological solid and based on the teaching of the Holy Scriptures.

In typical Ortberg fashion, we're given a compelling study on historical and cultural impact of this Man. It makes my faith in and love for Jesus Christ stronger. This book and study guide will be our next small group study. Thanks John Ortberg!

A brilliant book - absolutely sound theology and insights into the discipleship Jesus really calls us to on every page. Challenging and encouraging and energising. + a really good read. Love it!
