When you need high-quality sterile seeding starting mix ready-to-use, this is my go to brand. Great for starting herbs from seed in small flats or compact window boxes. I’ve used this seed starting mix to start a year’s worth of oregano, basil, sage, rosemary, catnip, chives, dill, woodland strawberries, epazote, and lemon balm. As the seedlings proceed to their first two true leaves, I commandeer a butter knife and teaspoon to help me fish them out of their seed starting container, divvying them up to progressively larger pots.

Add on top of soil as it's fine and soft and allows the roots to work slowly though the soil and doesn't crush or burn the roots and you don't need any nutrients

I have used this brand for 4 years and had very good results, never had any bad effects like bug hatching, mold or bad smell. I do sift to remove twigs and hard bits and clumps and this year it seem to have a few more debris bits in it and that's the reason for only 4 stars.

I love Coast of Maine soils. This seedlings starter has just enough added goodies in tiny amounts to give my seeds the will to live and stay happy as they're growing. I would give this starter mix more than 5 stars if I was allowed by Amazon.
