So far so good!
Works well so far. As with most things I purchase, I like to disassemble them and figure out how they work. Here is how this one is assembled:Stainless steel casing (two parts: main assembly as pictured, steel latch door for access to plastic housing)Plastic housing (contains the brains of the unit. Houses the battery, board and 120dB alarm)Locking mechanism (did not remove from the steel housing)Keys - 3 or 4 keys I believe and one flat (only for removing the battery door) engraved with serial number on it. Nice to have that info in case you somehow lose 4 keys. It's a nice little package, this item works by shooting infrared lasers at a subject (the rotor disc) and monitoring movement. The product says "shock resistant" as well, but I am uncertain this has an accelerometer in it. When you lock it onto the rotor, it beeps after 5 seconds confirming it has been triggered. After 10 seconds, the motion and shock sensors are engaged. When you lock it not on the rotor for storage, the infrared beam bounces off a reflective plate and and back in to a receiving sensor so it does not engage. Make sure to keep this sensor clean, otherwise it may arm. When applied on my motorcycle, it is fairly sensitive. I tinkered with the bike (definitely wear ear plugs if you plan to do so) and was able to move it just barely until it recognized movement. The alarm beeps twice and then goes off; it stops after about 20 seconds I would say and then re-engages. A couple times it did take a little more movement than others, however if anyone tried sitting on the bike I am 99% sure it will go off. I was able to get it from resting on the kickstand to upright but had to so very gently. You can adjust the sensitivity by altering where the lock sits. The manual first recommends to set it between 12 and 3 o'clock, I put it at about 3 and got the results above. I haven't had the need to put it elsewhere, but if it is not sensitive enough they recommend placing it at 6 o'clock. If any of this changes I will be sure to update.Oh, the locking mechanism works by putting the key in, turning and a spring pops the tumblers and pin up. To lock you simply line up the pin with the rotor hole, and push it shut. Same procedure when storing and not in use.Good product, gives you a little more peace of mind - but keep in mind this wouldn't make your bike 100% theft proof.***~1 year update ***Rating drop from 5 star to 4 star.Item still works as described above, with a few side effects. When locking on rotor, often after engaging the alarm will immediately go off once - then reset and then be ok. Sometimes I randomly hear it go off with seemingly nothing setting it off - not fun to run to a false alarm. Additionally, sometimes I find it harder to set off the alarm - the other day I stuck my key in and turned and it didn't engage until the last second; pretty rough motion before it went off. Still works, not as optimal. As stated above, gives you a little more peace of mind (with some false alarms!) but in no way makes your bike 100% theft proof; this is a deterrent.

Great Deterrent
I have used this lock for over a year. It's got a loud alarm, but it does a lot to deter thieves just by being there in the first place. What I don't like is that if you move the bike slowly you can still maneuver it without setting off the alarm. Of course, we all know that anything can be stolen and that alarms are simply a deterrent.I cut a square out of an old brake rotor, put the lock on it, and strung the assembly from the inside of my garage door. Now I have a garage alarm.

mind of its own
When I first went to use this disc lock, i pulled the plastic strip that activates the battery too quickly and it broke, so i had to open it up and remove the battery which was a bit of a mission to get into, and then it was a mission to close. The alarm wouldn't stop until i closed it completely. annoying, very high pitched sound. The lock was working fine for the first few weeks but now when i have it in my bag or even sitting on the ground it just randomly decides to activate and there is no way to stop it. It is very annoying and draws unwanted attention. I think this lock/alarm combination is a great idea, but it seems the sensor is no longer working properly so i have to take out the battery and just use it as a regular disc lock.

Great idea, great price, works well, but unlocking it is an extreme nuisance.
While this alarm system is great value, it functions well, and it is a great ease of mind, it is absolute pain to take off of your bike. Mine goes off 3-4 times before I can get the key completely in and get a full turn to unlock it. The key gets stuck half way through the unlocking mechanism and when you try and figit with it to get it all the way in, the alarm (as it is supposed to) goes off. Alarm is great, but the locking mechanism is a real pain the butt.If you're looking for something to deter while you're away from your home for a while, this is perfect - otherwise, it is simply too much hassle to use in public, or every day at home.

Good security for motorcycle.
I bought this lock after doing a short online survey. It's quite easy to put it on and take it off from the disk brake. Overall I like this lock, the only drawback I see is, it's very sensitive. Even a strong wind make's it go off and its not good if you are living in a apartment building. I have to leave my motorcycle unsecured and rely on my cover alarm. It's great to have if you park your motorcycle in a garage.

alarm disc lock is excellent
I've had the xx-6 lock for a month now. It does make a lot of noise when someone moves the bike, or the lock. With folks and dogs alerted, my bike is left alone in my yard. The noise should chase off bad guys who would prefer a quieter moment.Three years now, alarm sounds too often, road traffic, so I took alarm part off, still a great disc lock with alarming potential. Needs to be less sensitive, more on movement and not vibration would be helpful. Xena suggest different locations on disc would help but 3 o'clock or 6 o'clock didn't make a difference.

Scooter Alarm
Being the proud owner of the 2014 Burgman 650, I knew I had to have a great alarm. I purchased this alarm after watching a you tube video on it, and it was amazing. This product arrived way I mean way before they advertised it, Worth every penny I spent on it. Since I don't have a motorcycle I was worried about having extra security. This thing works like a champ and would recommend it to anyone that has either a moped or a scooter/Maxi Scooter. Worth the piece of mind knowing that you bike is now safe.

Works as you would imagine
Works Great nice and sensitive should anyone sit on your bike. Sucky part is you only have about 4 seconds to get key in hole and unlocked or it will start screaming which kinda sucks on a quiet block. So don't drop key once key touches hole. Just sayin. Subtract one star for that
