These are excellent traction treads. I've had them for about a month now and not only do they give great traction but they are clearly very durable. I installed these on wooden basement steps so I can't vouch for how they would work on exterior steps but I suspect they would work fine outside. I installed these after slipping and falling down all the steps (ouch!). Now the steps are much safer and I have complete confidence now even if some water gets on the steps. They were very easy to install and they adhere beautifully. But something really nice about them is that you can pull them up and re-position them for a while anyway. I had to do that with a couple of them when I didn't quite line them up perfectly on first try. Once they were in place, I ran a rubber roller over them that I happen to have in my shop. I recommend using some sort of roller to get the best results but it's not absolutely necessary. Also, be sure your steps are clean before installing the treads. Washing them down with TSP might be a good idea to make sure they are perfectly clean. I used the occasion to re-paing my steps before installing them. That wasn't necesssary but they were due for re-painting anyway. As a side note, I had to laugh at a review or two that warns you about these traction treads if you have a dog. I don't know what type of dog would be harmed or even dislike these treads. Think about it: Dogs run effortlessly over stones, concrete, sticks and just about anything imagineable without any problem at all so how these treads would bother any dog is a mystery to me. In fact, they probably like the treads. Dogs don't like slippery surfaces. I have two cats and their litter box is in my basement and they didn't even seem to notice the treads. Good stuff! Buy with confidence.

This is a great item to keep from slipping on my ramp which is attached to my new shed. Installed composite decking which is slippery. To prevent any accidents I installed these strips and it was quite easy. I made a simple template to keep things square and even. Then I lightly heated each strip to straighten them out. I noticed the glue was a little gooey once I peeled the paper off. The better to get good adhesion! Once laid down, I used a hard rubber roller to make sure the strips were secured. Any mud that was on them after the install, washed off on the first rain.
