El tiempo entre costuras: Una novela (Atria Espanol) (Spanish Edition)

Soy estudiante de español y siempre buscando libros para devorar y mantener lo que he aprendido y ampliar mi vocabilario. Vi la serie basada en este libre en Netflix y decidí comprar el libro que prometia ser mucho mas detallada que un programa de tele. ¡Ojo! No fui decepcionada... el libro es enorme y tan bien escrito que me alegro de que me va a entretener por mas tiempo que la mayoría de los libros de este precio. Y conociendo las caras de los actores de la serie puedo imaginarlas en cada pagina. Cómprelo. No lo vas a lamentar.

If you are an intermediate/advanced student of the Spanish language, this book is easy to comprehend. I have not finished reading it yet - It is pretty long - but it is a good exercise. The story is interesting. If you have it on a Kindle, it is even easier to understand, thanks to a Spanish dictionary that pops up when you touch the unknown word. Very helpful.

I read the series and had to buy the book.

This was an excellent, entertaining first novel by a relatively new and young author. Most importantly, it is beautifully written; I certainly hope Ms. Duenas has, or is working on, a second gem. To boot, this novel is available as a Spanish Kindle and in English (not sure if also as Kindle) as The Time in Between. The beautiful-writing is evident in Spanish, but I have had quite positive, consistent feedback from friends to whom I've recommended the English version.It reminded me of Mira Si Yo Te Querre, though only in that it involves a Spanish woman in the Sahara. The Duenas character is much more engaging, and the story is much more entertaining, even fascinating, although the ending was less-so to this reader. The author is an academic and this is evident in the well-researched, rich historical and geographic contexts she paints, and in which in which she grounds the life and times of Sira Quiroga and her fellow-travelers -matters that are often quite weak even with better-known and more-seasoned authors.Not surprisingly, the novel is being presented as an Antena 3 television series in Spain this year. Almost as much as I anticipate a next Duenas novel.Gracias y felicitaciones, Profesora Duenas.

Maria Duenas does not disappoint (even hough this is her first and not her second novel). It is a shame that the review will be rejected if written in Spanish, because the book is full of idiomatic expressions that are of difficult translation, and the historical time it covers and the characters names, in good part real people, are not we;ll known by American readers, unless they ate buffs of the Spanish Civil War, the Franco dictatorship and/or WWII.Don't be discouraged, though; even if you are not in any of this groups, terse, clean prose, well developed plot, in-depth research make this a very enjoyable novel by one of the great group of Spanish women writers of the current generation.I will not go into the plot, and leave it to the enjoyment of the readers. My wife is readi, and enjoying the English translation.

Disfrute mucho este adictivo libro que está muy bien escrito for su autora. El libro te mantiene aprendiendo de un momento especifico en la historia mundial. El crecimiento del personaje principal es ilimitado y sus eventos de vida impredecibles cuando comienzas a conocerla. Me encanto esta lecture y definitivamente la recomiendo.

LIbro ameno y de lectura rápida y fácil. La autora es una gran cuentista que combina lo que es producto de su imaginación con lo que ha investigado y estudiado. La trama cuadra perfectamente con los acontecimientos de la época. Siendo yo de América Latina, aprendí mucho sobre esa época tan difícil de la historia española y marroquí.

It is entertaining, and it was a best-seller. I am sure a lot of people will like it, a lot of friends of mine do like it- in my opinion, this book is full of stereotypes (about different people, periods, etc) and it is not well-written,even a little cheesey. But this is only my opinion. Also, there is the tv show you can watch on Netflix (I have not watched it because I wanted to read the book first).

I am learning Spanish and I chose this book to read because the blurb looked interesting. It is certainly a great story, although it was quite tricky to read as a Spanish learner. Dueñas has a literary style of writing and describes the characters and events very convincingly. If you want to get into a good story set during a difficult time for Spain, I recommend this book. If you are learning Spanish, it's quite advanced language so it might take a while to read, but I found it very gripping nevertheless.

This novel is well worth reading as it has a compelling story line and provides a wonderful insight into what life was like in the Spanish Protectorate in Morocco at the outbreak of and during the Civil War in Spain in the 1930s. It also gives some insight into life in Madrid also. I also like the fact that real historical political figures feature in the narrative too. Would happily read again.

This is in Spanish. A wonderful story and beautifully written. Truly gripping.

Love it
