Healthspan Vit D
Very expensive product. Healthspan prices are increasing over the board.

I had low vitamin D according to a blood test at the doctors so they advised i take a vitamin D pill. These were effective in restoring my vitamin D levels.

Good Strength
I visit very hot and humid countries. I sweat a lot and so I rapidly deplete Magnesium, Potassium and Calcium. If I do not rectify this loss of minerals I get terrible leg cramps. The main culprit is a lack of calcium. You have to take about 1800mg of calcium if you become depleted. The problem is calcium needs vitamin D to work. Vitamin D needs K2 to work. K2 also helps Calcium absorbability and also positively affects the flexibility of the arteries, so allowing greater blood flow and potentially de-calcification of the artery and putting calcium back into the bone, rather than floating in the artery.By taking a combination of K2, D3 and Calcium, the body can start to regain its lost calcium. This product gives you an almost perfect dose of D3 at 4000IU. Tests have shown you really need 8000Iu to make a real difference. Sadly this product does not have any Vitamin K Mk7 added to it, to aid absorption. Vitamin D on its own will struggle to absorb without K. When I take this great product I have to add K to the mix, to ensure it works properly. Sadly this then makes this product a bit more expensive than some other Vitamin D products that have K already added. This is a great stand-alone D. It works very well, but many scientific studies have shown you must take K to help D absorb. This must be taken into account when buying this stand-alone product. I am happy to recommend it, as it is strong, but you will need to purchase K separately.I have found that by taking this combination of D and K, I stave off muscle cramps and potential bone issues. It works very well in combination with the aforementioned supplements. I am therefore very happy to recommend this item. I do prefer to get K from a combined D3 and K combination, as it can be more cost-effective. Recommended.

right at the upper limit of safe daily dosing for Vit-D advised by US and UK health services
Healthspan Elite Vitamin D3 4,000iuI wanted to get some vit-D tablets as the NHS website gives this advice - it says "Government advice is that everyone should consider taking a daily vitamin D supplement during the autumn and winter." and - "Children from the age of 1 year and adults need 10 micrograms of vitamin D a day. This includes pregnant and breastfeeding women, and people at risk of vitamin D deficiency."On the ideal dose - the NHS advises "Taking too many vitamin D supplements over a long period of time can cause too much calcium to build up in the body (hypercalcaemia). This can weaken the bones and damage the kidneys and the heart. If you choose to take vitamin D supplements, 10 micrograms a day will be enough for most people. Do not take more than 100 micrograms (4,000 IU) of vitamin D a day as it could be harmful. "Looking at this product, I found✅ manufacturer's name clearly identified✅ Clear shelf-life indicated on the pack✅ taste OK - so no problem to take✅ blister pack means relatively safe around little children (childproof closing packs are the best)✅ packing is very smart - fortunately it is cardbaord and can be recycled👎🏻 Dosing is right at the top limit of safety as advised by the NHS. So, you cannot take this brand product if you are taking other sources of vitamin D such as fortified breakfast cereals, multivitamins etc♥️ CONCLUSION: There is controversy about the best dose of vitamin D to take. The NHS advice is about protecting bone health but others suggest that vitamin D at higher doses can help reduce or prevent other problems. The USA Institute of Medicine reported in 2011, and concluded that evidence for benefits other than improved bone health came from studies that could not be considered reliable and provided often-conflicting results. Based on the evidence for bone benefits, however, the IOM panel increased the RDA for vitamin D to 600 IU for people up to age 70 and to 800 IU for those over 70. That's a fairly sizable boost over the previous recommendations of 200 IU per day through age 50, 400 IU for ages 51 to 70, and 600 IU for ages over 70. The IOM also raised the safe upper limit of daily intake for most age groups from 2,000 to 4,000 IU.So - I suggest review the risks and benefits, starting with the NHS website, and IF you are safe inside the total daily dose limit of 4,000 IU, these are a good buy.If you are anxious that you could be overdosing - then look at alternatives; Amazon has a great range to choose from.Because this of this potential overdosing issue - I rate these at 3 star as I suspect that if your family is like mine - we start the day with vitamin enriched cereals and this product takes us straight over the safe daily limit advised by the US and UK health services.

4000iu Vitamin D3 capsules (120 pack) from Healthspan Elite
My partner tested this item. This is his review. This is a 120 capsule pack of 4000iu Vitamin D3 tablets from Healthspan Elite - a range of supplements designed for Elite Sports people and approved by Informed Sport.Healthspan are a well-known and trustworthy brand for supplements. They have an entire dedicated product line for Elite sports people.4000iu (100µg) is a good amount of Vitamin D from just one capsule. The tablets that I have been taking before this have been just 1000iu (25µg).The packaging for this "Elite" range of vitamins looks very "premium-like".Overall, this "Elite" range of supplements from Healthspan are great for professional sports people who require supplements from a trusted source. They are obviously more expensive than "regular" Vitamin D3 tablets (equivalent 4000iu high street brand capsules can be had for as low as 5.5p per tablet, these Healthspan ones are 15p per capsule - that's 3x the price). However, professional sports people who require the peace of mind that informed sport accreditation provides may find some value in these capsules.
