Perfect.
Our cat hated his plastic cone from the vet but he got used to this one quickly. It kept him from licking a wound on his hind leg (thigh area). This one is soft and it did not seem to bother him for sleeping or eating. It has a very good quality velcro for opening and closing so you can put it on and remove it easily without having to squeeze it over his head (like the plastic cones). Our cat wears it most of the day and we remove it so he can wash himself and if he's sleeping where we can see him, otherwise he'll go back to licking his wound when not supervised.Since he's been wearing it a lot, the structure has gotten a bit floppy and sometimes it flips in the opposite direction so it looks like he's wearing a poncho. It still keeps him from licking his thigh but it gives him more access to his leg than if it were on properly. The only thing I would recommend is probably to get the medium instead of the small. He is 2 and a half and weighs about 12 lbs and the opening is tiny. He wears it as loosely as possible so it's not too tight around his neck.I recommend this product.

Our cats final month was more comfortable
Our special girl had surgery in her head and a feeding tube. This soft cone made her much more comfortable in her final month :( The cone is soft and she was able to sleep comfortably and the cone is lightweight so she was able to walk without too much trouble. We loved it so much that we bought 2. They wash well and we are grateful that our girl Clementine had this cone to help her. She passed away 3 weeks ago from cancer and we miss her every day.

My cat is fine wearing this!
My cat is almost 14yrs old. He's pre-surgery to remove a mass on his back that he keeps licking & will want to do the same post-surgery. I was worried about using a plastic cone & searched alternatives, SO HAPPY I found this one!!He's 12lbs & neck measures approx 9.5 inches, so, I bought this in (S) & (M). I'll be returning the (M) since the diameter of the sunflower is just too big. The (S) works better, but, it still needed to be extended. I'm using a 1.5" safety pin that goes from the edge of one side to approx 1/4 to 1/2" into the other side. It's comfortable enough for him to wear it facing back vs as a cone so his vision isn't impaired. The soft side is underneath as well as the softer side of the velcro (which I don't use because of the safety pin extender)You also want to be mindful not to make it too loose. If your cat wants to try to fight it off, he can get his paw stuck in the neck opening & fall over.It only took my cat a couple hours to get used to it. He can eat/drink like normal & get in & out of his litter box just fine.I'm so glad I found this one first & it's been working great! If you have a fatter cat, I'd suggest still getting this (S) size & just use a longer safety pin. The (M) is better for longer pets (head to tail)

Adorable and functional
This is not only adorable but extremely functional! My 8 month old tabby girl was spayed and I could tell she was miserable with the cone from the vet. I’m happy to spend the extra money for her to be more comfortable for the short duration she’s wearing it. She eats and drinks fine. Doesn’t like the Velcro too much but it’s better than the alternative. Very happy!

Perfect instead of a cone
We got this for our cat as she got spayed. This is soooooo much better than the plastic cones. We have not had any problems with her getting out of it as the Velcro is super thick and heavy.Just make sure you put it on like you would a flea collar as far as spacing goes next to the neck.We fold it down when she wants to eat and then fold it back up when she is done. The only thing you may need to watch is how high the litter box is off the ground as we have a tall litter box so we put our scale in front of it to give her a little help so the collar doesn’t make her skittish of getting in the litter box but I would assume it would be the same with the plastic one if she had that on too.

Works well, seems comfortable
A nice wide velcro fastener gives you the ability to adjust to the correct size, and holds securely. I can say my cat loves it, but he is much more comfortable with this one rather than the stiff plastic one he came home from surgery with. Works well keeping him away from the sutures.

Purfect!!
Best purchase ever! Totally does the job of keeping my little guy from licking a sore on his lower belly but is soft enough that he can get comfy without any issues!

Seems to help
This was purchased for a VERY ACTIVE kitten that needed a cone as per the Vet after a medical visit. He HATED the traditional medical clear plastic cone they provided and would violently thrash his head against walls, trying to get out of it. He really worried me that he'd cause himself more harm rather than getting the protection he needed. With this sunflower cone, I can't say he loves it, but he is tolerating it. If I pull the petals forward, and block his vision, he gets agitated, but with the petals down like in the photo, it's doing it's a job, so it was worth the purchase and the Vet. approved the modification. : )
