The Holmes HAP424-U HEPA-Type Tower Air Purifier This space-saving tower air purifier works two ways to freshen and clean the air in your home. First, its Hepa high-efficiency filter helps remove airborne particles such as smoke, dust, pollen, mold spores and pet dander. Then, to absorb and eliminate common odors, the filter is fortified with trusty arm and hammer baking soda. Features three speed settings and optional ionizer. The unit is a slim oval tower less than three feet tall, which makes it easy to place in an unobtrusive corner of the room. There are two control knobs--one for the three power settings, and one to turn the ionizer on or off. An indicator light lets you know when the filter needs changing. The outside of the unit can be cleaned with a damp cloth. The air inlet grill can be washed in hot soapy water (not dishwasher-safe); it should be completely dry before being replaced into the unit. The top air outlet can be swept clean with a small, soft brush. 3 Speed Settings Choose from 3 cleaning speeds to keep the air fresh and pure inside your home. Select a lower speed while your at home for continued purification with less ambient noise. Select a higher speed while away from home for maximum purification. Optional Ionizer Negative Ions bind with airborne smoke, dust, and pollen to form larger particles that are more easily captured by the filters. When turned on, the Ionizer will make a soft, but audible, crackling sound. This is normal and indicates the Ionizer is working.
